Efficient Energy to Feature Chillers Using Water as Refrigerant at Virtual Trade Show

German manufacturer Efficient Energy will be showcasing its eChiller, which uses water (R718) as the only refrigerant, at the Virtual Trade Show next week.

The Virtual Trade Show, featuring 75 exhibitors, will take place live around the world over a 24-hour period on September 1-2. shecco, publisher of this website, is hosting the event. It is free to attend and interested parties can sign up here

The eChiller is based on Efficient Energy’s Bluezero technology, which “makes water as a refrigerant possible,” the company said.  “Our Bluezero technology complies with all the current environmental and safety regulations pertaining to the operation and maintenance of refrigeration units,” noted Thomas Bartmann, Sales Director of Efficient Energy.

The eChiller is best equipped to produce chilled-water temperatures between 16°C (61°F) and 22°C (72°F), making it suitable for applications like data centers, industrial process cooling and high-temperature heat pumps, said Efficient Energy. The eChiller models 35 and 45 offer capacities of 35kW and 45kW (10TR and 12.8TR), respectively.

Efficient Energy is expanding its product portfolio to offer more cooling capacity in different applications. The company is developing a new product, the eChiller120, which will be launched at the end of October 2020 and will be commercially available in 2021. It can offer up to 500kW (142.2TR) of cooling capacity. A video on the eChiller120 can be viewed here. To receive the latest news on the eChiller120’s digital launch in October, sign up here.

The eChiller works via direct evaporation, compression, condensation, and expansion of water in a closed-loop cycle. Unlike other solutions, the refrigeration process in the eChiller takes place in a vacuum at low pressures between 10 and 150 mbar and in a temperature range of 12°C to 45°C (54°F to 113°F). “This makes it possible to achieve significant energy savings through free cooling, smooth transition between the operation modes, and closed cooling circuit operating in a vacuum, avoiding high pressure,” said Efficient Energy.

The eChiller can save up to 80% in energy usage compared to conventional cooling systems, according to Efficient Energy.

Our Bluezero technology complies with all the current environmental and safety regulations pertaining to the operation and maintenance of refrigeration units.
