The Cold Chain Innovation Hub (CCI-Hub), a Philippines-based leaning center, will hold a three-hour technical training workshop on Wednesday October 7, at 2pm Philippines time (8am CEST).
The workshop will focus on advanced technologies for the food retail sector, including both CO2 and R290. Interested parties can register here.
The workshop will feature a session by Sustainable Refrigeration Expert Wynand Groenewald on transcritical CO2 systems in hot ambient temperatures, and a live stream from a transcritical CO2 training facility. The event will also cover an R290 water-loop system case study by Cold Front Technologies Asia.
Other topics will include: installation and servicing of commercial refrigeration systems; training regulations and standards; assessments and certification; and an overview of the leading global trends in sustainable food retail.
Other speakers will include: Manuel P. Azucena, Director, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Technicians for Development of the Philippines (RACTAP); and Jan Dusek, Head of Global Partnerships at CCI-Hub as well as shecco’s COO and Head of APAC.
Improving the cold chain
The CCI-Hub is a part of the Global Partnership for improving the Food Cold Chain in the Philippines project, which is implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines (DENR). shecco, publisher of this website, is one of the project’s key executing partners.
CCI-Hub serves as the project’s main platform providing technical resources, training, knowledge sharing and stakeholder collaboration. CCI-Hub’s primary objective is to increase adoption of best practice refrigeration, and related services, as well as communication throughout the food cold chain and to ensure the project has a long-term impact.
One of the most pressing issues in developing countries is a faulty food cold chain, which results in massive food loss and underserved communities. To address that problem in the Philippines, the Global Partnership project aims to identify, develop and stimulate the application of low-carbon, energy efficient refrigeration innovation technologies and business practices for use throughout the food cold chain to increase food safety and food security.
