The U.K-based Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) has issued a call for presentation abstracts for the IIR International Rankine 2020 Conference – Advances in Cooling, Heating and Power Generation, to be held July 26-29, 2020 at the University of Glasgow in Scotland.
The deadline for submitting an abstract by September 20. More information on how to submit abstracts can be found at www.rankine2020.com.
The conference brings together the disciplines of the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps (RACHP). Program themes include:
- Cooling and heating refrigeration systems with the reverse Rankine cycle, including compressors, heat transfer and exchanger, system/cycle design and optimization, novel applications and system simulation.
- Power generation using organic fluids, comparing the organic Rankine cycle to other power generation applications; expanders, heat transfer and exchangers; system/ cycle design and optimization; novel applications; and system simulation.
- Working fluids, including new fluids, fluid blends, environmental impact, performance analysis and comparisons for both natural working fluids and fluorine-based refrigerants.
The conference will celebrate the life and legacy of William Rankine at the university where he worked, on the 200th anniversary of his birth.
This is the first international conference bringing together the disciplines of Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) and Refrigeration Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps (RACHP) to encourage the flow of ideas between the two fields. It will provide a forum to discuss the shared environmental challenges, the solutions being proposed and the difficulties in choosing the most efficient working fluids.
A prize fund of £1,800 ($2,200 U.S.) will be awarded to the best student papers. A discounted registration fee is available for students.
The event, hosted by the IOR and organized in association with the Knowledge Center for Organic Rankine Cycle (KCORC) and IESIS, is expected to attract 300 delegates and 120 technical papers.
