Tecnac designs, engineers, manufactures and distributes components and accessories for the commercial refrigeration and air conditioning industries.
Headquartered near Madrid, Tecnac produces oil separators and oil receivers for both subcritical and transcritical CO2 applications. The company also manufactures liquid receivers, suction accumulators and valves for R744 refrigeration. The company’s newest product is a 130bar coalescent oil separator for transcritical CO2.
Founded in 1988, Tecnac’s largest market is Europe, with around 80% of the company’s CO2 turnover. The second largest market is Australia. All the company’s products, which are available in more than 40 countries, are manufactured at its factory in Spain.
Detailing its reasons for choosing to manufacture components using R744, Tecnac’s stressed that, on top of the environmental advantages and low GWP, CO2 is also a “safe” and “cheap” refrigerant to produce. The company also stressed that it is important to keep up with the latest market trends and demands from customers.
Other reasons the company is bullish on R744 include:
- A high volumetric refrigeration capacity, six times greater than R404A – resulting in smaller compressors, components and piping;
- The “constant nature” of its evaporation temperature – making it possible to use it with a lower temperature difference in evaporators and heat exchangers, giving it higher energy efficiency;
- High vapor density – seven times higher than that of R134A – and high evaporation enthalpy;
- Low viscosity in liquid and gas lines – which allows the use of smaller pipes, minimizing the cost of the system;
